Why Get Braces or Clear Aligners?

Properly aligned teeth help you to bite, chew and even speak more effectively. They are also easier to clean, which helps keep your mouth free of tooth decay and gum disease. The amazing thing about orthodontics is that it harnesses the body’s natural ability to remodel its own tissue. With the application of light, constant force, orthodontic appliances gently reshape bone and move teeth into better positions.

Orthodontics For Children and Teens

Having orthodontic treatment in childhood is ideal in order to take advantage of a youngster’s natural growth processes to help move the teeth into proper alignment. Like the rest of the body, the teeth and jaws are now changing rapidly. So at this time it’s possible (for example) to create more room for teeth in a crowded mouth by using a “palatal expander” to rapidly widen the upper jaw. This phase of growth modification can shorten overall treatment time and ensure the best result if additional orthodontic appliances are needed

Orthodontics For Adults

healthy teeth can be moved at any age, so you’ve never “missed the boat” for orthodontic treatment. In fact, about one in five of today’s orthodontic patients is an adult. Several new technological developments — including tooth-colored ceramic braces, clear aligners and invisible lingual braces — have made orthodontic appliances less evident, and enhanced the treatment experience for grown-ups. Before treatment, adults are carefully examined for signs of periodontal (gum) disease, which will be brought under control before treatment begins.

Get Straight Teeth and Bring our your beautiful Smile!

There are many advances in the field of Orthodontics and while brackets and arch wires still remain an effective solution they are not the only option.  Depending on your unique situation, we may recommend traditional braces but clear aligners are also growing in popularity, and effectiveness.  There are many things to consider and we will always provide you all the options so you can make the best decision to suite your needs and lifestyle.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are discreet (near invisible) easy to maintain and keep up with your oral hygiene because you can simply pop the aligners out before you eat and then pop them back in!  Most adults prefer this option but it also becoming increasingly popular with Children and Teens, mostly because they don’t have to avoid their favourite foods as they would with traditional or lingual braces.

Traditional Braces
Ceramic or Metal

Traditional braces are affixed to the front of the teeth and are visible when you smile.  While typically less expensive than either Invisalign or Lingual braces, they require that the patient maintain excellent oral health routines to ensure that food particles don’t get stuck between the brackets and wire and also that you avoid crunchy or sticky foods.

Lingual Braces

The key advantage to Lingual braces is the appliance is affixed to the inside of the teeth, making them near impossible to see.  While not as convenient as Invisalign (you still have to watch what you eat!) they are an excellent way to achieve that perfect smile while hiding the braces for aesthetic reasons.

Carriere Motion Appliances

We work with Carriere appliances to help correct tooth position. The system is easy for patients to work with, all they need to do is change out the elastics which are prescribed at various strengths depending on their treatment plan. Patients may also be prescribed a retainer which only requires a mild washing with toothpaste and luke warm water as part of their dental hygiene routine.

This system is often used at the beginning of your treatment plan, before the actual braces go on, to help correct Overbite or Overjet issues that you may be experiencing. After we have addressed these bite alignment issues, braces are then applied to affect proper alignment of the individual teeth.

Overbite refers to how far your upper teeth cover up your lower teeth when you bite down.

Overjet refers to how far out your upper teeth stick straight out leaving a space between your upper teeth.

SPEED™ Brackets

SPEED™ System Orthodontics is one of the smallest, most advanced orthodontic brackets available and provides patients with many advantages. We typically use speed brackets for qualifying patients that wish to have their treatment done in the shortest time possible.

Key Features of Speed Brackets

The brackets are quite small some times up to 1/3rd smaller than other metal brackets. Patients enjoy this feature as they are unobtrusive.
They are smooth and rounded design minimizing irritation of the soft tissues in your mouth, and helping with overall comfort.
Highly efficient contributing to shorter treatment times overall.
